Edward Calhoun Graves M.D. Obituary
GRAVES, EDWARD CALHOUN, MD, 86, peacefully passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013.

Ed was a graduate of Male High School, class of 1944, and the University of Louisville, followed by the University of Louisville Medical School, class of 1953. He served in the infantry in World War II, when he was trained as a combat photographer.

Ed completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Michigan in 1956, and was admitted to the Board of Urology in 1962. He also was a member of the American College of Surgeons. He practiced medicine in Louisville until his retirement in 1995.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and scuba diver, as well as an enthusiast for baseball and World War II history. He was a member of the B.B.S. Club, the Louisville Country Club, and the Dennbarr Club.

After the 1974 tornado heavily damaged the Cane Station Cemetery near Lightfoot Road, Ed oversaw it's reconstruction and helped form the Cane Station Historical Society. He served as its board president until his death.

Ed is predeceased by his parents, Stella and J.C. Graves; brother, William E. Graves; and beloved wife, Betty Kannapell Graves.

He is survived by three devoted daughters, Sara Graves Scott (Bruce), Katherine Graves Doll, and Rebecca Graves (Edward Mansour); and four grandchildren, Virginia (Rev Hayes), Liz, and Rebecca Doll, and Alex Scott, who knew him affectionately as, "Teddy." A visitation will be held at the home of Sara and Bruce Scott, 510 Tiffany Lane, on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 3-6 p.m. There will be a private ceremony and burial at Cane Station Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's.
