Eugene Edward "Gene" Reis

REIS, EUGENE "GENE" EDWARD, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, April 4, 2014.

Gene was born in Bridgeport, CT, but always liked to call Louisville home. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater with the Marine Corps. He was a former vice president with T.W. Cutter in Boston, MA.

Gene was one of the earliest members of Hurstbourne Country Club where he honed his vices of golf and Gin Rummy. He was also a member of St. Jude's Prayer Society and volunteered for Sister Visitor Center.

He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Corinne K. Reis. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Eileen; son, Eugene J. Reis (Kay); daughter, Pamela Reis Ratterman (Jim); and grandchildren, Alex Ratterman (Jennifer), Mike Ratterman (Annie), Teri Ratterman Hardy (Andrew) and Joey Reis; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services for Gene will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 and 3-5 p.m. on Monday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Sister Visitor Center, 2235 W. Market Street, Louisville, KY 40212. Condolences may be left at
