77, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, July 28, 2014.

He was a member of Brown Memorial CME Church, a graduate of Central High School Class of 1955, and a United States Navy Veteran.

Mr. Thompson was a successful entrepreneur in the African-American community. He was co-owner of Captain's Closet Men's Store and owner of Dairy Snack - Mr. Thompson's Barbeque, both at the corner of 15th and Broadway.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Dianne; children, Grego, Faye, and Tiffany; siblings, Ronald, Gary, Brenda, Aileen, and Shelia; 4 grandchildren.

Visitation with his family will be 4pm - 6pm Sunday August 3, 2014 at his church, 809 W. Chestnut St. with a memorial service to follow at 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be directed towards the Lincoln Foundation, Whitney M. Young Scholarship Program, Herman Thompson Scholarship Fund, 200 W. Broadway, Suite 500, Louisville, KY, 40202.
