JONES, HUNT BRECKINRIDGE, MD, died on February 14, 2014 in his home at Treyton Oak Towers; he was 100 years old. He had suffered a massive stroke on February 10, 2014.
Dr. Jones was born in Waco, TX on February 14, 1914. He graduated from Culver Military Academy in 1930, Haverford College in 1934, and Harvard Medical School in 1938. After serving an internship in Hartford Connecticut, Dr. Jones returned to practice medicine in Eminence, KY.
Dr. Jones joined the Navy in 1941, served in the South Pacific and aboard the aircraft carrier Altemaha as a flight surgeon, and was honorably discharged in 1947 as Commander (MC) USN. Dr. Jones worked full time in life insurance medical work from 1947-8, and returned to Louisville, KY in 1948 where he began the general practice of medicine. Dr. Jones retired after practicing medicine for 60 years; he once told a college classmate that he enjoyed every day of it.
Dr. Jones was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Elizabeth Moore Jones, in 1989 and by his second wife, Edith Taylor Jones, in 2005. Dr. Jones is survived by his three children, Dr. Mary Wales North, Stephen Munn Jones, and Hunt Breckinridge Jones, II; as well as by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
There will be a grave side service for immediate family and close friends later in the Spring.
