CORNETTE, JAMES B., 82, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He retired after working 40 years with BF Goodrich Corporation.

He was a Marine Corps veteran during the Korean War. He loved the Lord and was a diehard Kentucky Wildcat fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ishmael and Orpha Cornett of Knott County, KY; brothers, John Duke and Leroy Cornett; and sisters, Henretta Hale and Lois Cornett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Jane "Slingshot" Kennedy Cornette; five children, Robert Kennedy; Kathy Larkins (Doug), Jamie Howes (James), Becky Barnett (Keith) and Kevin Cornette (Maryann); He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held noon Monday at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Dr. with burial in KY Veteran Cemetery Central. Visitation: 1-8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday.
