BATTS, JAMES "PAPPY," 89, of Louisville, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at his residence. Jim was born in Louisville on June 17, 1925 to the late Harry and Cleo Batts.

He was a Navy World War II veteran and worked for the City of Louisville as a Lieutenant Firefighter. He retired as a Firefighter Guard for I.C.I. Americas.

Jim was a member of American Legion G.I. Joe Post #244. He was baptized and joined Southeast Christian Church this past year.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Flora "Midge" Batts; daughters, Shannon Caffee (Bobby) and Barbara Majka (John); grandchildren, Bob Taylor, Melissa Jacobs (Matt), Stacy Bathrick (Cary), Stefanie Peterson (Jason), Jason Zachary, Andrew Caffee, Kaelyn Caffee, Megann Broadway, Joshua Broadway (Michelle), Jon Broadway (Jennifer); 16 great-grandchildren; and brother, John Batts who resides in Lexington.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Jim at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven with Rev. Tom Schreiner officiating. There will be a graveside service to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the donors .
