DAVIS, JAMES "JIM" E., 75, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 6, 2013, at Friendship Manor, with his loving family by his side.
He was a native of Knoxville, TN, and a U. S. Army veteran. Jim had retired from sales for LaCrosse Footwear. He absolutely loved his job and the 25 years he spent with LaCrosse, his co-workers and customers. He was a people person, and a fair man believing in equality for all. A no-nonsense and honest man. He loved to travel and spend time going to the coast.
Jim was a member of Southeast Christian Church and enjoyed spending Saturdays with the Men's Bible Study group. He and his wife Bev, hosted in their home a bible study that he enjoyed sharing not only the Bible, but the fellowship with other Christians. He was an avid golfer and taught all of his grandchildren and family how to play, holding golf clinics every year for them, and he was a U of K fan.
Cherishing his memory is his loving wife of 27 years, Beverly Hartlauf Davis; children, Keith (Natalia) Davis, Lori (Mike) Mehlbauer, Laura (Billy) Myers, Kim (Eddie) Brewer, Bryan (Hilari) Neuner; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Life Celebration will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at noon at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway, with interment following in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service from 10 a.m. to service time.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the American Council for the Blind, 4420 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40216.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Friendship Manor for the exceptional care, love and support that was given to them and Jim at this difficult time.
