KESSINGER, JEAN LAVERNE, 89, a Louisville native, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014.

She resided just short of 10 years at Brownsboro Park Retirement Community. She was the daughter of the late Vernon and Jenny Butler Quiggins, a retired office manager for Southern Forwarding, a member of Teamsters Local 89, Moose Club Chapter 573, Opti-Mrs. Club, Crescent Hill Women's Club, and a volunteer at Kosair Childrens' Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, James Joseph Kessinger; son, George L. Vernon (Yung); stepchildren, James J. Kessinger Jr. (Evangeline), Shelley (Allan R. Jennings, Jr.) and Mary (Clarence A. Russ, Jr.); eight stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, in St. Matthews. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Thursday and 1-2 p.m. Friday at the Ratterman's.

Memorial gifts may be made to Kosair Charities or the Kentucky Humane Society.
