Obituary Condolences

BLOOMINGTON - Cash, Keith C., 50, Chief of Police at Indiana University in Bloomington died suddenly on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at IU Health-Bloomington Hospital of natural causes.

He was born in Louisville, KY on March 23, 1962, the son of Judy (Carrico) Cash and Tom Cash. He was raised in Jeffersonville, IN, graduating from Jeffersonville High School.

At Indiana University/Bloomington, he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in criminal justice. In 1984, he joined the IU Police Department and he served as operation's captain on the police force for nine years.

Keith graduated from the Federal Bureau of investigation National Academy in 2004. He was named Police Chief of Indiana University in October 2010. In 2011, Keith was honored by Indiana University student media with the Trevor R. brown Award. He served on the Board of the Indiana Association of Indiana Chiefs of Police and was a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He was also a member of Donald Owens Lodge #88 of the Fraternal Order of Police in Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by one brother, David M. Cash.

He is survived by his mother, Judy Cash of Jeffersonville; his father and step-mother, Tom and Kathy Cash of Floyds Knobs, IN; his brothers and sister-in-law, Steve and Nancy Cash of Lafayette, IN and Mike Cash of United Arab Emirates; one sister-in-law, Tricia Cash of Brunswick, MD; nephews, Wyatt Cash and Aaron Cash; niece, Audrey Cash; and two half-sisters, Kristen Cash and Brittany Cash-Reichenbach.

Celebration of Life services will be 4 p.m. (EST) Monday, March 25, 2013 at the IU Auditorium. Friends may visit the family in the vestibule of the auditorium from 1-4 p.m. on Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Keith C. Cash Memorial Fund, c/o of the IU Foundation, PO Box 500, Bloomington, IN 47402. Contributions received will be used to benefit the IU Police Dept, the IU Police Academy and the IU Police Service Animal fund. Online condolences may be sent to the family at .

Keith will be missed by many friends, numerous cousins, uncles, aunts and his best-buddy canine friend, German Shepherd, Alibi. Keith was a giving person, sharing, even in death as an Organ Donor.
