REDMAN, LLOYD "PAPPY," 89, passed away peacefully at Westminster Health Care on Tuesday, June 18, 2013.
He was a World War II Naval veteran. This was followed by a career in education starting as a high school teacher, coach and ending as an assistant superintendent of Jefferson County Schools. He was a member of East Audubon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Loretta.
He is survived by his daughter Patty and his son Bob (Pam); three grandchildren, Natalie Bedell (Rob), Chris Redman (Ashley) and Jay Smith (Michelle); great-grandchildren, Austin Bedell, Jack Bedell, Britt Redman and Josie Redman. He will miss the birth of Emma Smith in July.
He was best known as "Pappy" to all his friends, players, and family. He played both football and baseball for Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville. He went on to become teacher and coach, leading his 1957 football team at Durrett High School to the Jefferson County Football Championship.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 1 pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Road. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Highlands.
