JEFFERSONVILLE - Howerton, Maxine, 84, passed away January 16, 2014.

She was born on April 30, 1929. She earned a master's degree in counseling from Indiana University Southeast and a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Louisville, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa. She worked as both a teacher and counselor, but was also a painter, golfer, avid reader, lover of horses, and Louisville Cardinals' fan.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Howerton; three sons, Gary Howerton and his wife, Dianne, John Howerton, Daniel Howerton and his wife, Lynn; a brother, Gerald Munich and his wife, Shirley; and four grandchildren, Lauren Howerton, Christina Howerton, Tracey Howerton, and Steven Howerton.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Carl Howerton; and her brothers, James Munich and Donald Munich.

Visitation will proceed the service from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Maxine Howerton, 84, Jeffersonville, will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville.
