Phil R. Pearcy Obituary
PEARCY, PHIL R., 90, of St. Augustine, FL passed away on January 17, 2014.

Mr. Pearcy was born December 10, 1923 in Benton, IL. He was a graduate of Howe Military School, Howe, IL; Knox College, Galesburg, IL; Northwestern Midshipman's School, Chicago, IL and attended Purdue University.

He served in the Navy on LCT's with Amphibious Forces of the 7th Fleet in the South Pacific during World War II.

He was past president of Optimist Club, elected to City Council and appointed to Zoning Board all in Normal, IL. He was a past Board Member of the Boy Scout Council in Louisville and was employed by Kentucky Lithographing Co. of Louisville for 35 years retiring in 1982 as chairman and CEO. He served as director and president of Bank Stationers Assn. (International Assn. of Check and Financial Printers) Mr. Pearcy was active in the Sawgrass Country Club community at Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, serving as director of the Sawgrass Assn. with finance and other committees. He was a member of Sawgrass Country Club, Chapel at Sawgrass, Phi Delta Theta and the American Legion. He was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels.

In Louisville, he was a member of Audubon Country Club and Beargrass Christian Church.

Mr. Pearcy is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Cook); three daughters, Susan Pearcy and Lyn Pearcy of Louisville and Cathy Pearcy Freyn of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Kendall, Carolyn, Catherine, Casey and Cameron; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jay B. Pearcy; and grandson, Shad Mason.

In Louisville, visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane, and private burial at Cave Hill Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Glenmoor Healthcare Center at a later date.

Mr. Pearcy's family would like to thank Peggy Jo Hall, his caregiver for her kind support always protecting his dignity and Dr. Thomas Tomlin, his friend and physician for his thoughtful care of his health, and to the staff at Glenmoor Healthcare Center for their many kindnesses.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chapel at Sawgrass, P.O. Box 3205 or the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, P.O. Box 664, both in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32004.
