CLARKSVILLE - Foster, Richard E., 87, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, February 22, 2013 at his home.

He was born in Clarksville, and was a self-employed public accountant. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany, and a member of Howard Park Christian Church. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of Louisville, and served as the Town of Clarksville Clerk-Treasurer from 1956 to 1980. He was an avid Indiana University basketball fan. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his generosity and charitable giving, and his concern for the less fortunate.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean Foster in 1966, and his longtime companion, Pauline Fifer, in 2007.
Survivors include a son, Richard S. Foster of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Karen Alexander of Royal Oak, MI and Shelly Storch (Rick) of Prospect, KY; four grandchildren, Ryan Alexander (Kristen), Brent Alexander, Lauren Ayers (Josh) and Cory Storch; and three great-grandchildren, Foster Ayers, Jaxon Ayers and Kellen Alexander.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chapman Funeral Home with private burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Visitation will be Monday, from 5-8 p.m. and after noon on Tuesday.
