SCOTTSBURG - Murphy, Robert "Bob" Franklin, 94, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
He attended Spencerian School of Business and I.U. Southeast and worked as an Assistant Bridge Maintenance Engineer for I.N.D.O.T. in Seymour, IN, retiring on June 30, 1985 after 27 years and was a farmer.
Bob was a member of Zoah Christian Church, served during World War II in the U.S. Navy, was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge 555 for 65 + years, American Legion Post # 234, Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department since 1941, a former 4H Leader and member and was inducted into 4H Hall of Fame, charter member of both the Maine Anjou Cattle Association and the Scottsburg High School Alumni Association, a former volunteer for the Scott Memorial Hospital Guild and a former member of the Moose Family Center # 2324.
He was preceded in death by a grandson; a great-grandson; and three brothers, Ray, Leland and Samuel Murphy.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Agnes (Wells) Murphy; three sons, Robert S., Michael P. (Annette) and Teddy D. Murphy (Melanie); four daughters, Regina Pastrick (George), Sonja Baldridge (Kenneth), Nancy Swank and Linda Murphy; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation is 2 - 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
