PAYNEVILLE - Davis, Wesley Russell, 88, of Payneville, KY, passed away July 27, 2013 at the Kindred Rosewood Health Center in Bowling Green, KY. He was born November 11, 1924 in Louisville, KY, to the late Horace and Hazel Beauchamp Davis. He was a World War II combat veteran having served in the 85th Infantry Division in Italy. He received the Bronze Star Medal for distinguished service. He retired as a supervisor from the Naval Ordinance Plant in Louisville, KY, in 1977.
He enjoyed performing music most of his life, which was the source of many friendships and he was an avid boater and fisherman. Although he spent most of his work life in Louisville, during his retirement years he valued the support and friendship of his Meade County neighbors. He was a member of VFW post #11404 in Brandenburg, KY, and was an active member of the Meade County Senior Citizens from which he derived much fellowship and joy.
Wesley was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lorene Waddle Davis; and his son, Garry Joseph Davis.
His son, William Wesley Davis (Jo-Anne) of Bowling Green, KY; and his loving friend, Arlie Williams survive him. He also has seven grandchildren, Miranda Adams( and her husband, Jim, Matthew, Aaron (and his wife, Seadar), Kathryn, Meghan, Stacia, and Shannon; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg, KY. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Hager Funeral Home with burial in St. Theresa Cemetery in Rhodelia, KY.
