Highly decorated Veteran of the Vietnam War

PELHAM -- Alric Leo "Ric" Andrews, 62, a member of a well known Pelham family, died Sunday morning, surrounded by his loving family at the Bedford Hills Care and Rehab Center in Bedford, New Hampshire.

He was the husband of the late Charlotte (Roundstree) Andrews.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, October 22, 1950, the son of the late Leo Joseph and the late Ellen May (McCallum) Andrews, he attended Pelham Schools and Alvrine High School.

A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Ric both proudly and humbly served his country as a Sergeant with the U. S. Army. A highly decorated veteran, he was awarded two Bronze Stars for Heroism on the battlefield and received two Purple Hearts, as well as the U.S. Army Commendation Medal.

Ric worked most of his life as a sprinkler fitter with Fire Protection Systems in Pelham. He also worked as a logger at Mammoth Lumber in Pelham.

An active member of several veteran's organizations in New Hampshire, Ric was a Life member and former Post Commander of the American Legion Post 100. A Life member of both the Hudson V.F.W. Post 5791 and the D.A.V. Nashua Gate City, #7, he was also a Life member of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Ric enjoyed reading and music, and was an avid Bruins fan.

He is survived by three sisters, Gail N. Boissonneault and her husband, Rene of Pelham, Laurie E. Andrews of Manchester, NH, and Darlene S. (Andrews) Andrade of Derry, NH; three brothers, Gary B. Andrews, Keith D. Andrews and his wife, Nancy, and Scot A. Andrews and his wife, Diane, all of Pelham, NH. Ric is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

ANDREWS -- In Bedford, NH, September 1, 2013, at Bedford Hills Center, Alric Leo "Ric" Andrews. Friends may call for a Memorial Visitation on Friday morning at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM from 9 to 10:30 A.M. His Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M followed by Committal Services of his Ashes at the Gibson Cemetery in Pelham.
