Loving mother and grandmother

LOWELL -- Brenda V. (Hutchinson) Wegener, a longtime resident of Lowell, who was active in many community organizations, died July 3, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital, after a lengthy illness, aged 70 years.

She was the wife of J. Frank Wegener, who died in 1968, and Daniel C. Abate, who died in 2006.

Born in Lowell, March 22, 1944, she was a daughter of the late John and Ruth (Gustafson) Hutchinson. She was a graduate of Lowell High School and Northeastern University.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as an elementary school teacher and also for the US Postal Service.

She was a lifelong member of Warren G. Harding Court 5, Order of the Amaranth and the Grand Court of the Amaranth, of which she was a past Royal Matron and Grand Royal Matron.

Brenda enjoyed traveling but most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Marie Bourque and her husband, Daniel of Lowell; a sister, Ruth H. Flagg of Lowell; two brothers, Rev. John A. Hutchinson III and his wife, Carole of New Market, NH, and Paul Hutchinson and his wife, Angela of Saco, ME; three grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren and Danielle Bourque; and many nieces and nephews.

WEGENER -- In Lowell, July 3, 2014. Brenda V. (Hutchinson) Wegener, of Lowell, aged 70 years. Beloved wife of the late J. Frank Wegener and Daniel C. Abate. Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Blvd., Lowell, on Wednesday from 9 to 10 AM, followed by her Funeral Service at 10 AM. Interment in Lowell Cemetery.
