Charles E. Walsh, Jr.
Loving son, brother, and friend

SEABROOK BEACH, NH -- Charles "Charlie" E. Walsh Jr., passed away on March 23, 2013, at the Hogan Development Center in Hathorne, MA. He was 64 years old.

Charlie was born in Lowell, MA on October 31, 1948, the beloved son of the late Charles E. and Winifred D. (Carney) Walsh.

Charlie spent his early years at the Fernald School in Waltham, and for 45 years at the Templeton Development Center in Baldwinville, MA. Charlie excelled in most athletic pursuits and was active in the MA Special Olympics. In 1987, he was a member of the Massachusetts Special Olympic Team competing at the World Games at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. He won a Gold Medal in the 100 Meter dash and a Bronze Medal in the running long Jump. On his return from the Olympics, Charlie was given the Key to the City of Lowell from then Mayor Robert D. Kennedy. A hard worker with great enthusiasm, Charlie worked for many years at the Valley Barn and the South Gardner Hotel. For the last 16 years, prior to his retirement, he worked in Central Supply at Templeton, a job he loved.

During his monthly visits at his home in Seabrook Beach, he worked at Kathy Walsh Real Estate labeling envelopes.

Charlie had the enviable ability to make friends with all those he came in contact with. A loyal friend with a magnetic personality Charlie affected the lives of everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

While Charlie lived at Templeton Development Center for most of his life, he was an active part of the Walsh/Carney family, never missing a family event. Charlie loved living at Seabrook Beach with his mother, working out at the Seabrook Recreation Center, and taking walks at North Beach. He looked forward to eating at his favorite Restaurants, the Eatery and the Galley Hatch. Spending time with his sister and their friends were his favorite pastimes. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

He attended St. Elizabeth's Church and took serious his job of bringing the offertory gifts to the altar.

Charlie is survived by his sister, Kathy Walsh and her husband, Larry Murphy of Hampton; his Paternal Aunt, Mary Walsh of Lowell; and numerous cousins and a large group of friends.
