-- Edward J. Connolly, Sr. of Chelmsford, WW ll Vet; 85 -- CHELMSFORD -- Edward J. Connolly, Sr., 85, a resident of Chelmsford for over 50 years, died Tuesday, June, 25, 2013, at Town and Country Health Care Center in Lowell. He was the husband of the late Doris (Topping) Connolly, who died in 1999 and to whom he was married for 50 years. He was born in Boston on August 20, 1927, the son of the late John J. and Catherine (Reardon) Connolly. He was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin. Edward served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as Quality Control Manager by Dupont Merck Pharmaceutical Company. He was also a licensed stock broker. -- Edward was a longtime member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks and a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Chelmsford. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, photography and watching sports, but above all he cherished the time he spent in the company of his loving family. -- Edward is survived by his companion of 13 years, Jane Varley of Chelmsford; his daughter, Linda Houle of Nashua; his son, Edward J. Connolly, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne of Townsend; his three grandchildren, Tricia Huntley and her husband, Glen of Manchester, NH, Sean Connolly and Timothy Connolly, both of Charlestown; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Corbin Huntley; two brothers, Paul Connolly and his wife Louise of OR and Jim Connolly and his wife, Dot of CA; a sister, Catherine Carey of CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the grandfather of the late Donnie Houle, Jr., and the brother of the late Jack Connolly and Frank Connolly. -- CONNOLLY -- It being his wish, there will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Monday at 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. Interment will be private.
