Edward Schwartz Loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather -- CHELMSFORD -- Edward Schwartz, 91, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Thelma "Terry" (Napier) Schwartz who died in 2003. He was born in Cambridge on January 28, 1922 and was a son of the late Edward K. and Alma (Greenberg) Schwartz, and a brother of the late Elsie Knight. Edward was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. Prior to his retirement, Edward was employed at West End Iron Works in Cambridge where he had spent his entire working career. He had a reputation as a jack of all trades, and a true handyman. Edward was a founding member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Chelmsford. He was an active Mason for many years. Edward was a loving father and father-in-law to his daughter, Paula Noyes and her husband, Larry of Ashburnham; and to his daughter, Susan Ford of Pepperell. He leaves five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. SCHWARTZ -- At the family's request, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 1 o'clock at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 242 Boston Rd., Chelmsford, MA. A private graveside service was held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Edward's name to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 or to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 242 Boston Rd., Chelmsford, MA 01824.
