World War II Vet, of Lowell; 91
LOWELL -- Elizabeth P. (Pike) Grzyb, 91, of Lowell, died Wednesday, September 18th, at Fairhaven Health Care Center in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry J. Grzyb who died July 1, 2005.
She was born in Billerica, MA, February 19, 1922, the daughter of the late Ralph M. and the late Mary (Bolke) Pike.
A veteran of WW II, Elizabeth proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy.
Before retiring, she was employed as a Housekeeping Supervisor at the Edith Nourse Rogers Veteran's Hospital in Bedford for over 20 years. Previously, she worked at Goodwill Industries in Lowell.
Elizabeth was a member of the American Gold Star Mothers and participated at all their functions representing her son Robert who was missing in action during the Vietnam War. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Walker Rogers Post 662 in Lowell.
Among her many activities, she enjoyed music and dancing and loved traveling, especially to Foxwoods and Las Vegas.
Elizabeth is survived by three daughters, Barbara Grzyb of Lowell, MA, Karen C. Atkins and her husband, Lee of Merrimac, MA and Gale Grzyb of Plainville, MA; five grandchildren, Christine Joyce of Pepperell, MA, Lisa Pyrcz, Blake Johnston and Ashley Johnston, all of Florida, and Cameron Johnston of Lowell, MA; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Sara and Erik Joyce; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late Robert H. Grzyb who died in 1967, and sister of the late Frances Sebloski, and the late Ralph Pike.
