He was a lifelong, active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where, over the years, he served as Treasurer, Moderator and Deacon, and upon retiring, was granted the title of Treasurer Emeritus.
A highly successful Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Dixon founded the firm of Palaza, Dixon and Rust in 1965, currently practicing as Sullivan, Dixon & Co., P.C., where he remained an active partner until illness forced his retirement.

Over the years, he served in many capacities, including District Treasurer, District Governor Designate, District Conference Chairman, Trustee of the District Foundation, Foundation Chairman, and Club Advisor. In 2007, District 7910 presented Ernie with its Life Achievement Award, only the second such award ever made by the District.
