Marine Veteran; 91

ANDOVER, NH -- Gilbert O. Gaudette, age 91, a resident of Andover, NH, formerly of Lowell, MA, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the New London Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor L. (Farnsworth) Gaudette.

Gilbert was born in North Chelmsford on August 2, 1922, a son of the late Napoleon and Grace (Bessette) Gaudette. He attended Chelmsford schools and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed for many years by New England Telephone.

Gilbert proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and Korea.

He was a former member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks No. 87.

He also enjoyed fishing, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His survivors include two sons, Michael E. Gaudette and his wife, Barbara, of Uncasville, CT and Oliver J. Gaudette of Andover, NH; one daughter, Elizabeth M. Gaudette of Rochester, NH; four sisters, Alma Knight of Florence, SC, Theresa Knight of Manchester, NH, Rena Gaudette of Tewksbury, MA, and Rita Ayotte of Lowell, MA; two grandchildren, Stephanie Hoffman and her husband, Ryan, of Marlborough, CT and Timothy Gaudette and his wife, Ann, of Worcester, MA; one great-grandson, Connor Hoffman of Marlborough, CT; as well as many nieces and nephews.

GAUDETTE -- Family and friends may call on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4 to 7 PM at the ARCHAMBAULT FUNERAL HOME, 309 Pawtucket St., Lowell. Gilbert's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:30 AM at St. Margaret's Church, 374 Stevens St., Lowell. Interment with military honors will follow at the Lowell Cemetery.
