H. Leonard 'Len' Evans
of Chelmsford

CHELMSFORD -- H. Leonard "Len" Evans, 85, of Chelmsford, died Saturday, January 4, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Len was the husband of Marcia T. (Groom) Evans with whom he celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on July 3rd.

Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Harold and Jessie Evans. He attended Lowell High School, and served as an apprentice at Waltham Watch Co.

During World War II, he served in the US Marine Corps.

Len worked as a machinist at USCI which was part CR Bard of Billerica, and also Wang Laboratories in Tewksbury.

Len was an active Mason for 62 years with the Kilwinning Lodge of Lowell, Member of Pilgrim Commandery #9, Boston Commandery #2, Alleppo Shrine Temple for over 62 years, Oriental Shriners Temple for 25 years, member of the Fidelity Chapter #90 Order of the Eastern Star of Haverhill. He was a Life member of the Lowell Sportsman Club of N. Chelmsford, and a member of the National Ski Patrol. He volunteered as an EMT with the Shriners.

Len was a member of the North Chelmsford Congregational Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and

son-in-law, Nettie and David Post of N. Chelmsford; three grandchildren, Harold "Hal" Post, Adam Post, and Joshua Post, all of N. Chelmsford, MA.
