CHELMSFORD -- Major Harry Eugene Bungard, U.S. Air Force (Retired), 81, recently of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, and formerly a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013, at the Atrium at Drum Hill.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dora Amy Elizabeth (Campbell) Bungard who died in 2003.
He was born in Casselman, PA on April 17, 1932, and was a son of the late Ralph P. and Violet J. (Kimmel) Bungard.
Harry was a 1950 graduate of Rockwood, PA High School, serving as Class President and Drum Major for the band. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh where he played the clarinet in the Pitt Marching Band. Harry furthered his education earning a Master's Degree in Psychology from Oklahoma State and an MBA from Suffolk University.
He was a C130 Navigator in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, retiring as a Major in 1970 after 15 years of service.
Harry had a private pilot's license, and was a teacher for the Arthur Murray School of Dance. He was an excellent pool player, and enjoyed reading, playing Canasta, and spending winters in Indian Rocks Beach in Florida.
Harry is survived by his three children, Eugene Scott Bungard and his wife, Ann of Chelmsford, Elizabeth Lynn Piper and her husband, Greg of Chelmsford, and Susan Gayle Badger and her husband, Rob of Hainesport, NJ; eight grandchildren, Jillian, Kelly, and Christopher Bungard, Alyssa, Kimberly, and Matthew Piper, and Robert and Ryan Badger; sister, Kay Shaver and her husband, Robert of Seminole, FL; brother, Donald Bungard and his wife Jane of Acton, MA and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Bungard, and sister, Joy Pasek.
BUNGARD -- MAJOR HARRY EUGENE. Memorial visitation will take place on Friday from 11:30 until 12:30 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 pm at the Funeral Home.
