Loving sister, aunt, friend

LOWELL -- Patricia A. Britton, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, September 4, 2013, at D'Youville Senior Care Center, following a brief illness.

Patricia was born in Lowell on December 27, 1937, one of seven children of the late Everett W. and Alice M. (Higgins) Britton. She was raised in the Swede Village Neighborhood, and was a graduate of The B.F. Butler School and Lowell High School, with the class of 1956.

During her professional career, Pat completed many banking courses at the University of Lowell, now UMASS Lowell.

Pat enjoyed a 20 year career in Banking before transitioning to her job with the Town of Chelmsford, serving in the Tax Collectors Office.

She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church until its closing, then Holy Family Parish - St. Marie's Church, where she was a daily communicant and supporter of the parish.

Pat was an active parishioner while at Sacred Heart, and held membership in the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She was a past member of the Chelmsford Rotary Club.

Pat loved to travel, especially to her favorite spot on Earth, which was Ireland. She was fortunate enough to have traveled there on many occasions. Pat was also a photography enthusiast. She loved to take pictures, especially at family gatherings. Pat will be remembered as a strong, fun-loving woman. She loved to be with and around her family and many friends. In her free time, you could always find Pat helping others.

Surviving Pat are her Brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Jacqueline Britton of Lowell; her sisters-in-law, Pauline Britton of Tucson, AZ and Carol Britton of Dracut; her many, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews in the Meehan, Britton, and Krewson Families; her Goddaughter, Kathleen Meehan-Bailey of Lowell, and many friends, including her dear friend, M. Virginia Oulighan, also of Lowell.

Patricia was the sister of the late Edward and his wife, Virginia Britton, Mary and her husband, Cecil Krewson, John Britton, Alice "Sissy" and her husband, Martin "Buster" Meehan, and Robert Britton.

BRITTON -- In Lowell, September 4, 2013 at D'Youville Senior Care, Patricia A. Britton, 75, a lifelong Lowell resident. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL, on MONDAY MORNING, September 9, 2013 from 9 until 10 o'clock A.M.

Pat's Funeral Mass will follow at 11 o'clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH - ST. MARIE'S CHURCH (Downstairs Chapel), corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Sts. Lowell. Cremation will follow and her remains will be buried in the family lot in St. Patrick's Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory may be made to The St. Vincent DePaul Society of Holy Family Parish, 30 Grafton St., Lowell, MA 01852.
