Retired Billerica school teacher, 101

NEW YORK -- Ruth R. (Rothwell) Brodeur, 101, of Wantagh, Long Island, New York, formerly of Lowell, passed away Friday, August 16th at Fulton Commons Care Center in East Meadow, New York. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond A. Brodeur who died July 22, 1993.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, April 8, 1912, the daughter of the late Edwin and the late Rose (Lee) Rothwell, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1930. She then went on to graduate from Lowell State College (now known as UMass Lowell) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education in the Class of 1934.

Before retiring, Ruth was employed as a teacher within the Billerica School District for over 35 years.

Prior to moving to Wantagh, Long Island, NY, she was a parishioner of St. Margaret Church in Lowell for over 49 years.

Ruth is survived by a son Dr. Raymond A. Brodeur, Jr. and his wife Louise of Wantagh, Long Island, NY; two grandchildren Dr. Michael Brodeur and his wife Dr. Jean McGrath-Brodeur of Slingerlands, NY and Susan Brodeur of Wantagh, Long Island, NY; and two great-grandchildren Katie Brodeur and Lauren Brodeur, both of Slingerlands, NY.

BRODEUR -- Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. from 8 to 9 A.M. on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at ST. MARGARET CHURCH in Lowell at 9:30 o'clock.
