of Chelmsford, Air Force Vet; 70

CHELMSFORD -- Wayne R. Des Jardins, 70, of Chelmsford and formerly of New York State and Maine, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, March 27, 2014. He was the longtime companion of Ellen "Elly" Lehan.

He was born in Newton, MA on June 27, 1943 and was a son of the late Anthony C. and Irene A. (Beaudoin) Des Jardins. He received his early education in the Newton Schools and was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury.

Wayne was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during Vietnam. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by O'Connor Hardware in Billerica. He had previously been employed as a stone mason by the State of New York and for himself in later years.

He was a member of the VFW Walker Rogers Post 662 and the Tyngsboro American Legion Post 247.

An avid New England sports fan, Wayne also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking.

In addition to Elly, he leaves two children; Frank Des Jardins of NY, and James Des Jardins of New York; three brothers, his twin, David Des Jardins and his wife, Marie, Peter Des Jardins and his wife, Carol, and Alan Des Jardins, all of Wells, ME; and several grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

DES JARDINS -- Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 1 to 3 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD, followed by his Funeral Service at 3 pm at the funeral Home. Private interment will take place in Wells, Maine. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Funeral Director, Paul A.
