Dr. Barney Klein LITTLEFIELD-Dr. Barney Klein, 84, longtime resident of Littlefield, went to be with Jesus March 9, 2014 at his residence. He was born April 6, 1929 in Kerrville, Texas to Barney I. Klein, Sr. and Zella Catherine Klein. Barney was raised in Kerr County, out on the family ranch, and graduated from Tivey High School in Kerrville, with the class of 1947. He married Patsy Johnson on Dec. 21, 1954, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Barney attended Pre-Med School at Stephen F. Austin, and then was accepted to Med School at the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston. He graduated in June of 1961. After serving his internship in Fort Worth, Dr. Barney Klein and Pat moved to Littlefield where on July 1, 1963, he began his 41 years of dedicated practice at Littlefield Hospital and Clinic. Over the years, Dr. Klein provided compassionate health care to many families in Lamb County, and delivered almost 1,200 babies. He was also the Team Doctor for the Littlefield football teams, and stood on the sidelines, underneath the Friday night lights for numerous years, cheering on his Wildcats, always ready if an athlete was injured. In addition to football, he was an avid Wildcat sports fan, attending most of the games, watching his children, grandchildren, and even his great-grandchildren participate. Dr. Klein and his wife were active members of the First United Methodist Church in Littlefield for over 50 years, and he was also a member of the Lamb, Bailey & Cochran Counties Medical Association. He also served his country as a member of the United States Army. In his spare time, Dr. Klein was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his family, either snow skiing or water skiing when the kids were younger, woodworking in his shop, storytelling, casting a fishing line, camping, or simply just being out on the family ranch, tending to his cattle and sheep. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Patsy V. Klein; a son, Felix Klein and wife, Dr. Kelly Klein; two daughters, Julie Moore, and Cindy Pope and husband, Jody, all of Littlefield; nine grandchildren, Valerie Hood and husband, Matt of Amarillo, Tiffany Moore, Ashleigh Logan and husband, Keith, all of Littlefield, Erin Klein of Lubbock, Lorelei McAnany of Florida, Breezlynn Becker and husband, William of England, Strait Pope of Littlefield, Randall Williams and wife, Amanda of Wollforth, and Deiondrick Ivery of Littlefield; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy Fred Klein and wife, Jeanetta of Mountain Home, Texas; a sister, Catherine Keblinger and husband, John of Mountain Home, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
