Durward Mahon Obituary

Durward Dale Pug Mahon AUSTIN-Durward Dale Pug Mahon was born in Austin, Texas on May 26, 1939, to Durward D. and Margaret (Hopkins) Mahon. He passed away in Dallas on Feb. 28, 2014. The family moved to Lubbock, Texas, where Pug graduated from Lubbock High School in 1958. He then attended The University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. In 1964, Pug married Carolyn Davis, and they had two sons, Durward King and Kirk Davis. Pug's career was in real estate and property management. Pug was an expert bridge player, an avid reader and a lover of travel and gardening. His many friends can attest to his humor and his love of adventure. Pug is survived by his devoted sons, King Mahon and wife, Nancy Stivers, and Dr. Kirk Mahon and wife, Stephanie Jones; his sisters, Dale Haynie (Jim) of Austin, and Sally Steward (Ken) of Kingsland; his brothers, Mike Mahon (Cynthia) of Santa Fe, and Pat Mahon (Joyce) of Houston; and eight nieces and nephews; twelve grandnieces and grandnephews; and one great-grandnephew. Plans for a memorial service are pending. Donations in Pug's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a local hospice.
