George R. Quintero SLATON-Rosary service for George Quintero, 64, of Big Spring and formerly of Slaton will be 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2014, in Englunds Chapel. Celebration of life mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, in Slaton's Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Chacko Thadathil officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Mr. Quintero was born in Slaton on April 15, 1949. He passed from this life Monday, April 14, 2014, in Lubbock, surrounded by his family. George grew up in Slaton and graduated from Slaton High School in 1968. On Aug. 9, 1969, George married Rosemary Flores in Slaton. He had a love for family, fishing, music, and dancing with Rosemary, and was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan. He was a DJ for KCAS radio and had a #1 rated Neilson Show in the Lubbock market. He also served on the Slaton City Commission before becoming a police officer with the Slaton Police Department. He also served in law enforcement with Lamesa Police Dept., Big Spring Police Dept., and Howard County Sherriff Office, where he retired. George attended Wayland Baptist College, Howard College, and University of Texas at Permian Basin. George was a member of Big Spring's Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Crusillista. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ynoscencio and Irene Quintero; brother, Moses Lomelin in 2009; and mother-in-law, Feliciana Flores. Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Rosemary Flores Quintero; daughters, Belinda Q. Molina and husband Teddy, Olivia Q. Arnoux and husband Carl; son, George Quintero Jr., wife Jessica, and daughter Rosanna Quintero, all of Big Spring; grandchildren, Jonathan Molina, Rian Molina, Levi Molina, Aidan Valle, Raelyn Quintero, Talan Anderson, Brianna Arnoux, Brennan Arnoux, and Bella Arnoux; his trusted companion, Chino; numerous nieces and nephews; godchildren, Madonna Chavez Horvatich, Sonia Puente, and Rodney Flores.
