Gordon Eugene Joiner DALLAS-Gordon Eugene Joiner, 77, of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed away on Feb. 3, 2014, in Dallas, Texas, after a courageous 26-month battle with brain cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in the Wildwood Chapel of Restland in Dallas. Burial at Restland will follow the memorial service. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Gordon was born on Dec. 4, 1936, in Hereford, Texas, to Early Eugene Joiner and Virgol Brumley Joiner. He was a 1955 graduate of Floydada (Texas) High School, where he excelled in sports and enjoyed the close friendship of Floydada classmates that he cherished his entire life. He attended Hardin-Simmons University and Texas Tech University, graduating from Texas Tech in 1960 with a degree in Business-Real Estate and Insurance. At Tech, he was a member of the ROTC and the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, and it was at Tech where he met Martha Jean Morton. Gordon and Martha Jean married on Sept. 13, 1959. Gordon entered the United States Air Force following graduation, serving his country with distinction from 1960 to 1963. He settled in Dallas, working professionally in the insurance industry, real estate brokerage, residential new home construction, residential remodeling, and commercial retail sales of building materials. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, and in his later years, working in his cabinet shop. Gordon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Jean; sons, Gordon Joiner, Jr. of Coppell and wife Sharon, and Gary Joiner of Bulverde and wife Karen; and granddaughter, Kate; mother-in-law, Mildred Morton of Dallas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Patti Kramer of Plano; and nephews, Charles Kramer of Plano and David Kramer of Fort Worth; and niece, Kathy Kramer of Plano.
