Harlan K. Smith LUBBOCK-Harlan K. Smith died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. He was born on Aug. 20, 1923, in Austin, Texas. He grew up in Alpine, Texas, and earned his degrees from the University of Texas. He was a secondary math consultant for LISD for over 30 years. Harlan married Mary Sue London on Sept. 5, 1948. He is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Kaye and Paul Crowe of Texarkana, and Cheryl and Neal MacKenzie of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Ron Smith. Following the private burial, memorial service will be Friday, March 29, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in Carillon's Neil Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ranching Heritage Center at TTU, located at 3121 4th St, Lubbock, TX 79409, where Harlan donated his 1923 Model T.
