JE White LUBBOCK-Colonel JE White (retired), 90, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Lubbock. He was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Tiffin, Texas, to Rufus and Bessie White. JE was a retired pilot in the US Air Force, serving 28 years. He served 28 missions in WWII and was also wounded in that war. He served in the Korean conflict flying cargo planes; he served two tours in Vietnam and then helped develop the first drone which became the cruise missile. He received the Distinguished Service Medal, Purple Heart and several high awards from England, France, Vietnam and Korea. JE was an active member of the Prime Timers at Trinity Church and a committed Christian. Survivors include a son, Jamie Carlis White and wife Delila of Kingsland, Texas; daughter, Pamela Jaye Johnson of Lubbock; stepchildren, Lee and Willene Tyler of Lubbock, Marvin and Cheryl Estill of Belen, N.M., and Buster and Melba Estill of Lubbock; sister, Bonnie F Davis of Carlsbad, N.M.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Verna Modet Skeet White; and wife, Emma Lou White; four brothers; and one sister. Visitation will be today, April 4, 2014, in Resthaven Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. A graveside committal will be Saturday, April 5, at 3:15 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Park with a service in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel at 4 p.m. The family suggests contributions be made to CrossView Christian Camp, Box 288, Dickens, TX 79229.
