Jack Eldon Rainey ENID, OKLA.-Jack Eldon Rainey died Oct. 31, 2012, one week before his 90th birthday. Born Nov. 7, 1922, in St. Joseph, Mo., Jack finished his education in Pasadena, Calif., where he was president of his high school class. Jack attended UCLA before joining the Air Force during World War II. While in the service, Jack met his first wife, Marguerite Nicholas of Enid, Okla. They married in her hometown in 1945. The couple had two daughters before moving to Tulsa, where Jack worked in the insurance industry before owning and operating a successful cleaning and laundry business. After retiring, the couple returned to Enid, where Marguerite predeceased him in 1979. An avid golfer, Jack could be found swinging the club and hitting practice balls in the nearby fields. In 1985, he married Dorothy Balfour Failing, and the couple moved in 2008 to Lubbock, Texas, to be near family. He was a member of Lakeridge United Methodist Church. Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Jenna Lohringel and Deborah Rainey-Nelson; his stepdaughter, Sally and her husband Steve Haliburton, whom he thought of as his daughter and son; and three loving grandchildren, Nicholas Nelson, and Brent and Kathryn Lohringel. Graveside services will be held in Enid, Okla., on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012.
