James L. Bauchat, Jr. LUBBOCK- Capt. James L. Bauchat, Jr., USAF Ret., of Lubbock passed away on his 75th birthday, Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 Born in Canton, Ohio in 1938, Jim made a career out of the military. After serving four years in the US Navy, Jim enlisted in the US Air Force in 1962 and spent the next 15 years serving his beloved country, retiring as a Captain in 1977. Jim then worked as a subcontractor to the Dept. of Energy until 1993. Jim received a Bachelor's degree from Syracuse University and a Master's degree in Statistics from Louisiana Tech. When not working, Jim loved to shoot darts, competing around the country. He loved anything from the old west, especially Billy the Kid. Jim spent a lot of time reading books on history, watching movies, playing his favorite games on the computer, and always watching and cheering on his favorite team, the Denver Broncos. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Maureen K. Bauchat nee Zaleskie; his children, James L. Bauchat, III of Estero, Fla., Michael D. Bauchat and wife Ronda J. Bauchat of Littleton, Colo. and Danielle R. Bauchat of Lubbock, Texas; his grandchildren, Margaret Bauchat, Alex Bauchat, Peter Bauchat, and Nicholas Bauchat all of Littleton, Colo., and Aiden Bauchat of Lubbock, Texas; and his treasured pets, Jethro, Josie, Horai, and Bittie. Per Jim's wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Jim's memory be made to either The Lone Survivor Foundation, http://lonesurvivorfoundation.org/, or to the Wounded Warriors project, http://www.wounded warriorproject.org/.
