James Sullivan Gholson AZLE - James Sullivan Gholson, Jr., formerly of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord on March 3, 2014, in Azle, Texas. James was born on August 24, 1931, to James Sullivan and Helen Gholson of Lubbock. Services will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Lake Ridge, 6025-82nd Street Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. James was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene and served as Sunday School Secretary for 18 years. He worked as a carpet layer and carpet salesman. He won several trophies bowling in the City of Lubbock tournaments. He graduated from Lubbock High School and served in the Air Force as a Radio Operator in the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; Wesley Gholson; and a bother, Lee Gholson. He is survived by his wife ,Claudine Gholson of 60 years; two daughters, Stacy Rene' Gholson of Bethany Oklahoma and Mandi Paige Harris and husband Randy of Springtown, Texas; one granddaughter, Rachel Brooke Harris who he adored; a sister, Shirley Holt of Lubbock; and several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was a great father, husband, granddad and friend to those he knew and met. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the First Church of the Nazarene Prayer Garden or Building fund, 6110 Chicago Ave, of Lubbock, Texas 79424.
