John Junior Breedlove LITTLEFIELD-John Junior Breedlove, 88, of Littlefield died April 25, 2013, in Lamb Healthcare Center in Littlefield. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Crescent Park Church of Christ. Burial was in Littlefield Memorial Park. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield. John was born June 5, 1924, in Wellington to Russell and Ruth Tillman Breedlove. His father was killed when he was three years old. His stepfather, Roy Thomas, was a part-time minister who taught him to be a faithful Christian. Junior graduated from Hollis High School in 1942. He went to college for two years at Michigan State University, training in the signal corps. After graduation, he entered the United States Army as a staff sergeant. He married Joye Vaughan on Nov. 19, 1944. He then went overseas on Dec. 9, 1944 and arrived in Calcutta, India, where he built communication lines on the Burma Road. He was stationed there for three years. After returning home, he and Joye spent 20 years working at Hill's Department Store in Hollis, Oklahoma. In July of 1963, they moved to Littlefield, where they spent the next 27 years working at Ware's Department Store. Ware's eventually sold to the Dunlap Co. They managed the Dunlap's in Littlefield for 11 years before it was closed. They then went to work at the Dunlap's in Lubbock where they remained for 6 years. John was preceded in death by his father, Russell Breedlove; his mother, Ruth Breedlove Thomas; his stepdad, Roy Thomas; and one brother, Donald Breedlove, who was killed in France during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Joye Breedlove of Littlefield; his son, Rick Breedlove, who was the joy of John's life, and his wife Lorrie of Spring Texas; four grandchildren, Lynette Breedlove and husband Tony Morrison of Sugarland, Nicole Breedlove Hunt and husband Elliott of San Antonio, Daniel Breedlove and wife Julie of Spring, and Brian Breedlove and wife Kim of Tomball; his great-grandchildren, Carter Morrison and Devon Morrison of Sugarland, Madeline Breedlove and Connor Breedlove of Spring, and Brian Breedlove of Tomball; a brother, Dr. Jack Thomas and wife Mary Lois of Searcy, Arkansas; two special brothers-in-law that he loved dearly, Loyd Vaughan and wife Jane of Lubbock, and LaVerne Vaughan and wife Shirley of Muleshoe; plus a host of nephews and nieces that he cherished.
