Juan Manuel Salas LUBOCK-Juan CATY Manuel Salas passed from this life Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, in Lubbock. He was born into this life Wednesday, April 16, 1947, to Donaciano and Maria (Mendez) Salas in Lubbock. Juan enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After returning from serving his country, Juan married Rosa Quevedo on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 1968. He was a very dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Juan was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Esperanza Lara and Prudencia Rivas. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosa (Ruby) Salas of Lubbock; a daughter, Lori Hernandez and husband Jeff; two sons, Rick Salas and Eric Salas; six grandchildren; three brothers, Greg, Elias, and Raymond; and three sisters, Frances Martinez, Connie Gomez, and Maria Picon. A graveside service, to commemorate Juan's 66 years of life, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodrow, with Pastor Stormy Swann officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Agape Funeral Chapel, Lubbock.
