Katie J. Nini Conner FLOYDADA-Katie Jeanette Conner, age 80, formerly of Floydada, passed away, Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014. Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at the First Baptist Church Parlor in Floydada with Rance Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada. Visitation will be prior to service from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada. Katie was born in Plainview to James Everett and Oleta Orman Collier. A beloved daughter and sister, she had two siblings, Peggy Conner and Carolyne Parkey. Katie's youth was spent in Floydada where she attended school and earned salutatorian honors in her high school class of 1951. On Sept. 29, 1951 Katie was wed to WT Conner. The two built a life and family together in West Texas farming the land until WT's passing in 1973. Following the death of her husband, Katie, now a mother of four children, returned to school to pursue further education. She attended West Texas State University and Texas Tech. She went on to obtain her real estate and brokers licenses and became quite successful in her field. On July 11, 1980, Katie was married to Jim Lee Roberts. The two spent much time travelling the globe, and enjoyed many years together until Jim's passing in 2010. Throughout the years Katie discovered many passions. Her family was certainly her greatest joy, but she also loved playing in her garden, dancing, winning bridge hands, and was unrivaled in her enthusiasm of Red Raider football. Katie is survived by her children, Kathleen Conner, Bruce and Melissa Conner and Kristi Conner; her grandchildren, Noah Darling and Tiffany Lowe, Cole Marshall, Carly Marshall, Kevin and Kiersten Carson, Tucker Conner, Steven and Jennifer Bunna, Amy Conner, Sarah Conner, Kaitlyn Childress, Kelsey Conner; and five great-grandchildren. Katie is preceded in death by her husband, WT Conner; a daughter, Cynthia Darling; grandchild, Jacob T. Darling; a sister, Carolyn Parkey; and husband, Jim Roberts. Katie will be missed dearly by all who knew her, but her love will flourish always. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's charities. Online condolences may be made at www.moore-rose.com.
