L.L. Pid Banta BROWNFIELD- Services for Leon Laroy Pid Banta, 85, of Brownfield will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Bishop and Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m., prior to the service, at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be family. Pid was born on Dec. 25, 1927 in Lamesa, Texas to John David and Hallie Verona (White) Banta. He graduated from Lamesa High School and then attended Texas A&M University. He farmed 64 years in Dawson County, Terry County and Andrews County until retiring this past summer. Pid married his childhood friend, Yvonne Middleton, on Jan. 28, 1950. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2009. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Banta. Pid is survived by two sons, Mike Banta and his wife Cindy of Lubbock, and Dennis Banta and his wife Cindy of Brownfield; a daughter, Donna Lane and her husband Robert of Yantis; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, LaWana Moore of Lubbock, and Jeanine McKee of San Angelo.
