Norman Hinchliffe EARTH-Church service for Norman Hinchliffe, age 89, of Earth is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the Earth United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlie Johnson of Earth officiating. Burial will be in Earth Memorial Cemetery. Norman passed away Feb. 2, 2014, in Lubbock. He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Mexia, Texas, to David and Mary Jane (Guthrie) Hinchliffe, and married Jerry Applegate in Hamilton, Texas, on July 19, 1952. Norman was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater as a Staff Sergeant for the United States Army. He received his Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University in 1949. He then moved from Plainview, Texas, to Earth in 1960. Norman was a joint owner/operator of Earth Ag Supply. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Earth and was a past president and member of the Earth Lions Club. He also served as a past president and member of the Springlake-Earth School Board. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jerry; two sons, David Hinchliffe of Sundown, Texas, and Jason Hinchliffe and his wife Jennifer of Amarillo, Texas; two daughters, Karen Hinchliffe of Dallas, Texas, and Camille Gilliam and her husband Rick of Lubbock, Texas; one sister, Margaret Hinchliffe of Irving, Texas; one brother, Maurice Hinchliffe and his wife Jewel of Mexia, Texas; one grandson, Alex Gilliam; three step-grandchildren, Alex Clark, Megan Clark and Zac Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
