Chaplain Lt. Col. Philip E. Grimmett LUBBOCK- Chaplain Lt. Col. Philip E. Grimmett, 83, known best as Ed, was born in Corsicana, Texas on December 5, 1930 to Philip and Ina Mable Grimmitt. Philip had one brother, Walter Carl Grimmett. He married Frances Brister on June 4, 1953. Philip had three children, Lee (deceased, 1999), Tim, and Jan Grimmett; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He will be missed by all. At age of 20 he was called into the ministry. From that time on he served God and country in the church and in the Air Force as a chaplain. He served in seven different countries and seven different states. He served in the Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iranian Conflict and Granada. He had graduated from SMU, held a BA, Masters, and a Degree from Perkins School of Theology. His friends and family will gather at Sanders Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at West/Hurt Funeral Home of DeSoto, Texas. Interment will be held at the Wheatland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
