R.S. Bobby Douglas PLAINVIEW-R.S. Bobby Douglas, 82, of Plainview died on Jan. 23, 2013, in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Chaplain Oscar Chavez officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Bobby was born May 8, 1930, to Robert and Jimmie Douglas in Mills, N.M. He grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. He married Frankye Pass on Aug. 27, 1949, in Plainview. He started working for Southwestern Bell in 1950 and retired from AT&T after 35 years. In 1985, he started his own business with his son Steve. He owned and operated Douglas Telecom until his untimely death. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Elk Lodge, Horner Lake Association, and served many years as the president of the local Communications Workers of America. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and one sister, Joan Kernell. He is survived by two daughters, Sherri Elkins of Amarillo and Cathy Pritchard of Abilene; two sons, Steve Douglas of Plainview, and Gary Douglas and wife Linda of Amarillo; two brothers, Embre Douglas and wife LouAnn of Lockney, and Jimmy Douglas of Lubbock; two sisters, Jean Ashton of Lubbock, and Marie Cox and husband Vonnie of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
