Syan Thomas POST-Services for Syan Thomas, 60, of Post will be held Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with John Bill Hedrick and Rev. Scott Richards, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Terrace Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Dee and Janet Justice, Justice-Mason Funeral Home. Syan was born to Wayne and Jo (Davis) Thomas April 27, 1953, here in Post. Syan attended Post schools and graduated in 1971. During her school years Syan was honored with being the Post FFA Sweetheart, Homecoming Queen, member of the Post FFA, and playing basketball. After graduation she attended Texas Tech and moved to Amarillo to work in a bank. She then returned to Lubbock and worked for American State Bank. Syan went to the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and received her Registered Nurse License and went to work in the emergency room at Methodist Hospital. Later she became one of the first women in the state of Texas to be a paramedic/nurse in air ambulance business. She worked for Carelink Air Ambulance in Lubbock. In 2011 she moved to Abilene and worked as a nurse before being diagnosed with breast cancer. Survivors include: her son, Radley Nichols and his wife Crystal of Abilene; her parents, Wayne and Jo Thomas of Post; one brother, Tol Thomas and wife Angie of Andrews; two sisters, Tammye Griffin of Bruceville-Eddy, Texas, and Jendy Thomas of Riviera, Texas; two grandchildren, Paxton Lyndon Nichols and Madelyn Love Nichols, both of Abilene. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. Special friends include: Sherry Sappington, Darlene Lesley, Sandra Goldsby and Sue Williams. Pallbearers will be: Preston Poole, Riley Holly, Ryan Holly, T.J. Thomas, Paul Hayes IV and Byron Hayes. Viewing and visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at the funeral home.
