Funeral services for Billy Ray 'Poppy-Pa' Saxon, 78, of Corrigan, will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Corrigan with Rev. Lesly Wilkinson and Rev. Curtis Jordon officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Billy went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Lufkin Memorial Hospital. He married the love of his life, Catherine Bell, on January 6, 1962. He served in the US Army from 1959-1961 in Germany. In 1963 he became a father to his first daughter, Debra McAdams, following in 1965 with his second daughter, Dwana Nowak. Billy, also known as 'Poppy-Pa', worked hard to provide for his family, retiring from Lufkin Industries after 34 years of service. He took great pride in his family. His greatest joy was to bring smiles to the faces of his children and grandchildren. Billy found happiness in long rides with his brother, Trey. He was a family man with endless love for each of his family members. Many will remember him for his wit and sense of humor. He loved a good laugh and making anyone smile. Mr. Saxon is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Catherine 'Cathy' Bell Saxon; daughters, Debra McAdams of Corrigan, Dwana Nowak and husband James of Lufkin; granddaughters, Amy Howard ad husband Brent of Port Lavaca, Brittany and Caitlin McAdams of Corrigan; grandsons, Alex Nowak of College Station, Robert McAdams of Corrigan; brothers, Doyle Saxon of Diboll, Tracy Saxon of Trinity; one great-granddaughter, Emily Kay Howard and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Fern Dunn Saxon, and brothers Kenneth Saxon and Royal Saxon. Military honors were provided by the VFW Post 8568 of Livingston. Pallbearers: Christopher Sanders, James Williams, Jamie Saxon, Tracy Gossett, Bo Bell and Brian Lawson. Honorary pallbearers: Duncan Langston, Robert McAdams, and Alex Nowak.
