Funeral services for Donald Ray Womack Sr. are scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church. The Eulogist will be Rev. Stephen Pinkney. Bishop Leroy Shankle Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Womack was born on January 16, 1946 in Groveton, Texas to the late Clarence and Emma Womack. He spent his early life in Weirgate, Texas, and moved to Lufkin, Texas, in 1968. Donald was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church. He had been married to Betty Womack for forty years, the marriage lasting until his demise. He loved all sports, his favorite being football, and basketball. His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys, and the Celtics was his favorite basketball team. He had been employed with the City of Lufkin Fire Department, and was the first Afro American Fireman in Lufkin. On June 22, 2012, Donald Ray Womack departed this life in Lufkin, Texas. Left to cherish his memory: his wife, Betty Womack of Lufkin, Texas; children, Donna Adams of Jasper, Texas, Ramonda D. Cutrer of Hayward, California, Donald Ray Womack Jr., of Houston, Texas and Christopher J. Womack of Shreveport, Louisiana; Eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; Special cousins, Gina Allen of Houston, Texas and Winston Walker of Lufkin, Texas; His extended family: The City of Lufkin Fire Department.
