Funeral services for Jamie Norton Lund, 36, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Lufkin First Assembly with Dr. Delmer Guynes, Dr. Gaylan D. Claunch and Supt. Rick Dubose officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Jamie was born December 31, 1975 in Huntsville, Texas, and died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at her residence. Jamie graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lufkin High School in 1994. She attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, where she also graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education. Jamie excelled in post-graduate linguistics studies at the University of Texas in Arlington while teaching English as a second language to international students. In 2003, Jamie married her college sweetheart, Danny Lund. God blessed their family with two amazing children. Together, the four of them lived overseas and served the beautiful people of Northern Asia, sacrificing many comforts the average family takes for granted. Jamie was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, devoted daughter, wonderful big-sister, committed wife, and loving mother. Ultimately, at the age thirteen, Jamie began to focus her life towards accomplishing the God-given call to make an eternal impact on the lives of her family, friends, and students across the globe. She will forever be remembered as a spiritual trailblazer to those who knew her and to those who will someday be impacted by her life’s work. She is survived by her husband of nine years, Daniel Merlin Lund of Lufkin; son, Caleb Daniel Lund of Lufkin; daughter, Karen Vi Lund of Lufkin; father and mother, Gene and Karen Norton of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Jeremy Yancey of Lufkin; grandmother, Laura Emanis of Lufkin; Bible quiz coach and lifelong friend, Lawrence Purke; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members that she loved deeply. Jamie was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Viola Lund, and father-in-law, Dan Lund. Pallbearers will be J.R. Allen Reid, 79, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Ty Phillips and Reverend Fred Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery. Mrs. Reid was born March 22, 1933 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late Zora (Modisette) and Monroe Allen. She died Saturday, November 17, 2012 in a Lufkin hospital. Mrs. Reid was retired from the Medical Records Department of Woodland Heights Medical Center. She was also a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Reid had attended Central ISD and Pineywoods Business College. She had been a member of Redland Baptist Church for 46 years. Mollie had a passion for painting, quilt making, and genealogy. She was a lifetime member of the Lufkin Art Guild. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Lowell A. Reid of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Leshia Reid of Nacogdoches, Mike and Debbie Reid of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Ruby of Cedar Park, Texas; seven grandchildren, Brandon Ruby, Seth Ruby, Amber Ruby, Steven Reid, Nicole Thurston, Amanda Martinez and Jonathan Reid; nine great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceding Mrs. Reid in death was her son, Riley Ruby. Pallbearers will be Lynn Reid, Mike Reid, Steve Reid, Don Rudy Allen, Brandon Ruby and John Allen.
