Funeral services for Richard Allen 'Buddy' Parrish, of Corrigan, will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in Corrigan, with Bro. Leslie Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow at Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in Corrigan. Buddy Parrish passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Buddy was born on July 1, 1942 in Livingston. He grew up in Leggett and graduated from Leggett High School. He also attended Sam Houston State University. Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Army with a rank as a Sergeant E5, stationed at Fort Greely in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on May 3, 1971. After returning home he met his wife, Robbie Raye Maxey, and they were married six months later on March 16, 1968. Buddy went into his own business as a logging contractor. His brother Speedy joined him in partnership. This is what he spent most of his life doing, logging in the woods. He always provided for his family and home. After retirement, he stayed busy every day until dark working on his beautiful place and keeping up with his children and grandchildren. Buddy enjoyed hunting, fishing, working, keeping his land maintained and family gatherings. He also enjoyed playing with his grandkids. He was a member of the VFW in Corrigan. He is preceded in death by his mother: Melba Griffin Waites, and father, Hobson Brown. Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Robbie Raye Maxey Parrish of Corrigan; sons, Marty and wife Karen Parrish and Mickey and wife Heather Parrish, all of Corrigan; grandchildren, Makenzie Parrish and Harlie Parrish, both of Corrigan, Whitney Kosina of Austin, and Jake Kosina and Chance Kosina, both of Corrigan; brothers, Eugene 'Ham' and wife Verna Parrish of Livingston, Charles 'Speedy' and wife Adlove Parrish of Leggett, and David Waites of Bivin; sister-in-law, Minnie Hargrave of Shreveport, La., Betty Hagerty and husband Frank of Corrigan; six nieces, three nephews and numerous other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly. Pallbearers will be Mickey Parrish, Jake Kosina, Chance Kosina, Jay Clarke, Tommy Hensley, Lester Knight, Billy Shane Wilkinson and Matt Matlock. Honorary pallbearers will be Boyce Parrish, Kyle Parrish, Chad Parrish, Milt Purvis, Stevie Wilson, Johnny Arnold, Steve Wright, Dennis Mewborn and Frank Hagerty.
