Walter D. Clark was born in Goldthwaite, Texas on September 9, 1930. He passed to his reward in Lufkin, Texas on November 12, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Johanna Clark, son and wife David and Ruby Clark of Lufkin, Texas, son and wife Dennis and Gayle Clark of Wortham, Texas, brother and wife Alex and Helen Clark of Lufkin, Texas, sister and husband Recie and Fred Tatum of Cross Plains, Texas. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Walter grew up in West Texas and joined the Marine Corps and U.S. Army for one hitch each during the 1950s. While in the Army and stationed in Europe, Walter met the love of his life in Johanna C. Krop of Alkmaar, the Netherlands. They both moved to Texas after he left the military. After returning to Texas, Walter spent the next several years working on and servicing heavy equipment and diesel engines. He then spent the balance of his career working for Forestry equipment manufacturers and dealers. Although he and his family spent some time in California, Virginia and Louisiana, they spent most of their time in Texas. He moved to Lufkin in 1975 for the balance of his life. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Believer's Bible Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Hospice in the Pines.
